Congratulations to Gateshead Reading Hack, the first winners of our competition, The Top 10 Random Things. We asked about the top 10 random things you’ve discussed during a Reading Hack group meeting and Gateshead certainly didn’t disappoint.

- Molly: “I think it’s a good idea to portray the love that Romeo and Juliet had for each other through the medium of cheese and onion crisps.”
- Rachael L: “My friend is 98. No, she was born in 1998. She’s not 98.”
- Andrea (who is Italian): “Why do the English have so many words? Bubble, bauble and bobble sound exactly the same to me.”
- Laura: “I’m a goat fish. I mean I’m a Capricorn – half goat, half fish – that’s right isn’t it?”
- Ylenia (Who is also Italian): “There are no laws in Italy – people just do what they like.” (I’m not sure this is 100% accurate).
- Rachael: “What is anosmia? You can’t smell anything? I feel bad for you!”
- Laura: “I wonder what a terrapin tastes like.” after reading an extract from ‘Sophie Someone’ by Hayley Long.
- Andrea: “Please don’t make me sort out loom bands into colours ever again!!” after 3 successful library ‘Loomilicious’ events.
- Molly: “The day after the terrorist attacks in Paris in November, there was a bomb scare in my street. It turned out to be an empty suitcase but it was terrifying!”
- Gabby: “I’ve been so excited to get off school, but now that I have I’m soooo bored!!!”
Gateshead Reading Hack are soon to be the proud owners of a chocolate fountain.
