What is it?

Step 1: Sign-up to ImagiNation 2017 at your local library

Step 2: Choose & read a book from your library. Maybe choose something you don't usually read?

Step 3: Grab an ImagiNation book belly band and creatively express on there how the book made you feel.

Step 4: Once finished, secure the belly band around that book with a bit of tape.

Step 5: Take a picture of your book and band and upload it to the site.

Step 6: Place your book with its belly band on the ImagiNation display in your library to inspire other young people to read.

Step 7: Keep going! Do as many as you like.

Step 8: At the end of the summer, collect your reward for taking part.

Where will it happen?

The good thing is that it can be done in almost any space. If you want to go big with this and will need lots of space and equipment, talk to your local library staff who will help you.

When is it?

This is for the summer months. ImagiNation starts July 15 2017 and runs until the start of September 2017.

What could your next step be? Could you take it one stage further and try to animate or film what you've done?

Activity log

So great to see young people enjoying the books they've read. Keep going, everyone!

Have read 5 books so far:
Cinder by Marissa Meyer - Really good fairytale retelling and a very original take on the classic fairytale
An Inspector Calls by J.B. Priestley - An interesting and mysterious play with a surprising ending. Read the whole play in one sitting.
The Originals: The Rise by Julie Plec - A re-read, very enjoyable and good characters.
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness - Beautifully written, one of my new favourite books, very sad. Read the whole book in one sitting.
Between the Lies by Cathy MacPhail - Strange and confusing, but very good. Read very quickly.

I have just finished my first book since I joined on Wednesday day. It as taken me three days to read. The book I have been reading is Adrian Mole and the Weapons of Mass Destruction. This being the second time I have read this so is know reasonably what was going to happen and when but the fantastic humour and brilliant use of words still got to me I have not written my book belly band yet seeing a I have none but I will get some soon. I have also got the next book (the prostrate years) and am reading it at the moment and am enjoying it. I would recommend it to any one who as read any sue Townsend or just read one of the Adrian Mole books before. I found it was not necessary to read the previous books but I had already had done this.
H. Harrison

It took me 3 days to read both my books for the reading challenge they were good books and I would definitely think about reading more from those authors
